If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13
I want to love like that!
My family and my friends!
But the greatest of these is love.
Christ wants us to love know matter what.
I don't know about you guys, but sometimes (especial with my family) I find it very hard to tell someone I love them.
But God gave me a little lesson in loving others.
The other night I was on my way to bed and as I got in to bed I found a note from my little sister that said, "I love you Sam".
I was like, "Awe. That's cute", then went to bed.
I woke up in the morning and had forgotten all about it. (I'm horrible I know)
A few nights later as I was getting ready for bed my sister was banging on my wall in her room just to bug me. (she finds this to be funny!)
I started to get very ticked and was just about to go punch her face in when God said to me, "this is the perfect time".
I was like, "What are you talking about?"
Then God was like,"Go in there and tell your sister you got her note and tell her how much you love her!"
I was like, "What! Yah, ok, fine." (not to excited)
Then I did even though she was banging on my wall and I gave her a hug and told her that even though sometimes I act like I don't love that she should never forget that I'll always love her no matter what.
I said good night and she went of to sleep.
no more banging on my walls.
and I sat in my room and thought how good it felt to do that.
And because I did that when I really didn't want to it made me feel even better.
Because sometimes I forget to tell people that I love them.
And I don't want to do that anymore.
This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
